In case you’re wondering, the title of this blog post refers to a recent book that I’ve read by Brian Tracy called Just Shut Up and Do It (7 Steps to Conquer Your Goals).
We all need reminders and sometimes, we need a “kick in the pants.” For me, this book did just that!
Many people get started with a social media strategy and are not consistent with it; so, they don’t see results and then, complain that the strategy does not work, when in fact it was they, themselves that stopped working!
This week, a fellow store owner called me to ask me about potentially hiring me for social media consultation to ramp up his presence on various social networks. During the conversation, he asked me, “So what tips will you give me?” I replied, kindly, yet firmly, “I can give you many tips but if you’re not willing to do the work and apply them, your social presence (and hence, online presence overall), will not get any better. It’s like when a doctor gives the patient some medicine but the patient does not take it and then complains that the doctor is no good.”
We all know about the importance of social media in our lives; when will take that action? If we cannot do it ourselves, hire someone competent to do it for us, but for goodness sake, don’t delay. Start with one network and post consistently, using pics and video and take advantage of all the tips that you’ve received thus far. “Just do it!”
